Soups On! Fun and Food to Raise the Spirits of our Warriors

The VFW Post 4647 Ladies Auxiliary hosted a luncheon for the Warriors in transition out at McClellan on Monday.   There were also Men’s Auxiliary and Post members who helped.

Since it is November and the holidays are beginning, homemade soups were on the menu.  We’ve been having some rainy days and it would be a welcome comfort for the soldiers who are away from home.  In California style, the weather was gorgeous so we decided to move the venue out doors.

Just look at the Autumn leaves and the air was crisp yet warm.

The break in routine at the community-based warrior in transition unit allows members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars’ Ladies Auxiliary District 17 to show a gesture of gratitude to soldiers who have served overseas and those who are helping them.

Pumpkin and Apple pies made from scratch by a Veteran Marine who’s son is over in Iraq.  Let me tell you… these pies were the best!  Real, honest to goodness flavor.  The apple pies went quick.
