Saturday, May 28th, meet up at the East Lawn Cemetery to place flags on the graves.   There will be a ceromony at 8:00 AM and then flags will be placed.  If you would like to help, show up.

VFW Post 4647 is hosting it’s 45th Annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 31st.

Parade begins at 10 AM.

VFW Post 4647 Ladies Auxiliary at the Sacramento Memorial Day Parade

Park on base at the theater or old NCO club (James Way) and walk to A Street and Watt. If ya’ don’t want to do this, park on the EAST side of Watt, wherever you can and CAREFULLY cross Watt Ave to watch the parade. Option 1 is better and safer.

The parade will start at I Street and proceed down Watt Ave past Freedom Park Drive and end at A Street.

The Family Community Church will offer a Pancake Breakfast from 8 AM to 10 AM (Donations Accepted!!).  There will be hot dogs, sodas, and beer (plus a no-host bar, of course) available at VFW Post 4647 following the Parade.

Friday Night Fun!

Every Friday night the VFW Post 4647 hosts a dinner and dance.

Each week we will post the menu and tell you about the music. Sometimes it’s a live band and sometimes it’s a DJ.

Dinner starts at 6:00 PM and is usually $6.00 to $8.00 per dinner depending on the menu.
The Music starts at 7:30 PM and there is no cover charge.

In fact, the drinks in the canteen are much less expensive than most places. Fun, friends and a night out to relax and dance the night away! Come on out! You’ll be glad ya did!

Memorial Day Parade 2010 Invitation Letter – Volunteers & Participants

VFW Post 4647 is proud to present the 44th Annual Memorial Day Parade honoring all
those who gave their lives in defense of our great country.

APPLICATION DEADLINE:

AWARDS:

Trophies will be awarded in each category.

A participation ribbon will be given to each individual participating in the parade.

All parade entries will be considered and must be approved by the Parade Committee.

An information desk will be located in the forming area and will be staffed by our parade officials. Please check in at the information desk first for directions to the appropriate Division Captain for placement and line-up position.

Please remember, for trophies, YOU WILL BE JUDGED ONLY AT THE REVIEWING STAND.
We request that with your entry, you enclose a short synopsis about your group or entry. This will permit our parade announcer to properly recognize your group at the reviewing stand. Due to time constraints limiting the progress of the parade, we ask you keep your announcement and any special routines you would like to perform for the judges under 20 seconds.
Awards will be presented at VFW Post 4647, 3300 “U” Street, Antelope CA, as soon as possible following the completion of the parade.
EQUESTRIAN: New this year – SHA judging (as applicable) will only be accomplished at the assembly area. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies in the one Equestrian category will be determined by Parade Judges at the Reviewing Stand.
ATTENTION MOTOR VEHICLES – Do Not Violate California Vehicle Codes. No dangerous stunts are allowed. Safety of our spectators is our foremost concern.
FOR EVERYONE’S SAFETY – Do not throw souvenirs or candy from vehicles. You may walk and hand out candy or souvenirs if
you wish…just think safety when you do. Thank you for your cooperation!!

The theme for the parade this year is “LAND OF THE FREE – BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE,” recognizing all those who have served this great nation, and those who are serving today, in whatever capacity, to insure the ideals of American Freedom will continue to thrive.

There will be local dignitaries, marching bands, classic cars, youth groups, service organizations, equestrian units, and any others who wish to participate.

Entry into the parade is free.
